2 Kings Chapter 17 - | Early Church Bible

1: In [G1722] year [G2094] twelfth [G1428] the [G3588] of Ahaz king of Judah, reigned Hoshea son [G5207] of Elah] in [G1722] Samaria over [G1909] Israel [for] nine [G1767] years [G2094].
2: And [G2532] he did [G4160] the [G3588] wicked [thing] [G4190] in [G1722] eyes [G3788] of Boss '[G2962], only [G4133] not [G3756] as [G5613] the [G3588] kings of Israel who [G3739] were before [G1715] him [G1473].
3: Against [G1909] him [G1473] there went up Shalmaneser king of Assyrians; and [G2532] became [G1096] to him [G1473] Hoshea] as a servant [G1401], and [G2532] he bore [G5342] to him [G1473] gifts [G1435].
4: And [G2532] found [G2147] the [G3588] king of Assyrians by [G1722] Hoshea a plot [G1917], for [G3754] [Hoshea] sent word-conveyers (messengers) ' to [G4314] So king of Egypt, and [G2532] did not [G3756] bring [G5342] gifts [G1435] to the [G3588] king of Assyrians year [G1763] by [G2596] year [G1763]. And [G2532] assaulted him [G1473] the [G3588] king of Assyrians], and [G2532] tied [G1210] him [up [G1473] in [G1722] house [G3624] of prison [G5438].
5: And [G2532] the [G3588] king of Assyrians went up unto [G1909] all [G3956] the [G3588] land '[G1093], and [G2532] went up unto [G1519] Samaria, and [G2532] assaulted it [G1473] for three [G5140] years [G2094].
6: In [G1722] year [G2094] ninth [G1766] of Hoshea, seized [G4815] king of the [G3588] Assyrians the [G3588] Samaria, and [G2532] he resettled the [G3588] Israel into [G1519] Assyria, and [G2532] he settled them [G1473] in [G1722] Halah and [G2532] in [G1722] Habor, rivers [G4215] of Gozan, in [G1722] raised-places (mountains) '[G3735] of Medes.
7: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] that [G3754] sinned the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Israel] against the [G3588] Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of them [G1473], the [G3588] [one] leading them [G1473] from out of [G1537] land '[G1093] of Egypt, from beneath hand [G5495] of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and [G2532] they feared [G5399] gods '[G2316] other [G2087].
8: And [G2532] they went [G4198] by the [G3588] ordinances [G1345] of the [G3588] tradition-peoples (ethnics) '[G1484] which [G3739] BOSS removed [G1808][G2962] in front [G4383] of the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Israel, and [G2532] the [G3588] kings of Israel as many as [G3745] they did [G4160].
9: And [G2532] clothed the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Israel] words [G3056] of wrongdoings against [G2596] Boss '[G2962] their God '[G2316][G1473]. And [G2532] they built [G3618] to themselves [G1438] high [places [G5308] in [G1722] all [G3956] the [G3588]ir cities [G4172][G1473], from tower [G4444] guard [G5442] unto [G2193] city [G4172] fortified .
10: And [G2532] they set up to themselves [G1438] [stone] monuments and [G2532] sacred groves upon [G1909] every [G3956] hill [G1015] high [G5308], and [G2532] underneath [G5270] every [G3956] tree [G3586] of woods .
11: And [G2532] they burned incense [G2370] there [G1563] in [G1722] all [G3956] the [G3588] high [places [G5308], as [G2531] the [G3588] tradition-peoples (ethnics) '[G1484] which [G3739] BOSS moved far away [G2962] from [G1537] their face [G4383][G1473]. And [G2532] they made [G4160] partners [G2844], and [G2532] they graved [images the [G3588] to provoke to anger [G3949] the [G3588] Boss '[G2962].
12: And [G2532] they served [G3000] to the [G3588] idols [G1497] which [G3739] BOSS said [G2036][G2962] to them [G1473], Do not [G3756] do [G4160] the [G3588] this thing [G4487][G3778]!
13: And [G2532] BOSS testified [G1263][G2962] [to the [G3588] Israel, and [G2532] [to the [G3588] Judah, by [G1722] hand [G5495] of all [G3956] the [G3588] his prophets [G4396][G1473], every [G3956] [one] of them] seers [G3708], saying [G3004], Turn from the [G3588] ways [G3598] your [G1473] the [G3588] wicked [G4190], and [G2532] guard [G5442] the [G3588] my commandments [G1785][G1473], and [G2532] the [G3588] my ordinances [G1345][G1473], and [G2532] every [G3956] the [G3588] law [G3551]! which [G3739] I gave charge [G1781] [to the [G3588] your fathers [G3962][G1473], as many as [G3745] I sent to [G4314] them [G1473] by [G1722] hand [G5495] of the [G3588] my servants [G1401][G1473] the [G3588] prophets [G4396].
14: And [G2532] they did not [G3756] hearken , and [G2532] they hardened [G4645] the [G3588]ir back [G3577][G1473] above [G5228] the [G3588] back [G3577] of the [G3588]ir fathers [G3962][G1473], the [G3588] [ones] that trusted not [G3756][G4100] in Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of them [G1473];
15: even [G2532] thrusting away the [G3588] his covenant [G1242][G1473], and [G2532] the [G3588] ordinances [G1345] which [G3739] he ordained [G1303] [with [G1473] their fathers [G3962][G1473], and [G2532] the [G3588] his testimonies [G3142][G1473], as many as [G3745] he testified [G1263] to them [G1473]; and [G2532] they went [G4198] after [G3694] the [G3588] vain [things] [G3152], and [G2532] acted in folly [G3154], and [G2532] [followed] after [G3694] the [G3588] tradition-peoples (ethnics) '[G1484] the [G3588] surrounding them [G1473], which [G3739] BOSS gave charge [G1781][G2962] to them [G1473] the [G3588] to not do [G3361][G4160] according to [G2596] these [things] [G3778].
16: And [G2532] they abandoned [G1459] the [G3588] commandments [G1785] of Boss '[G2962] their God '[G2316][G1473], and [G2532] they made [G4160] for themselves [G1438] molten castings of two [G1417] heifers [G1151], and [G2532] they made [G4160] a sacred grove , and [G2532] did obeisance to [G4352] all [G3956] the [G3588] military [G4756] of the [G3588] raised-place-above (sky) '[G3772], and [G2532] they served [G3000] [to the [G3588] Baal.
17: And [G2532] they led [G1236] the [G3588]ir sons [G5207][G1473] and [G2532] the [G3588]ir daughters [G2364][G1473] through [G1722] fire [G4442]. And [G2532] they used oracles [G3132] of divinations , and [G2532] they foretold . And [G2532] they were sold [G4097] the [G3588] to do [G4160] the [G3588] wicked [thing] [G4190] in [G1722] eyes [G3788] of Boss '[G2962], the [G3588] to provoke him to anger [G3949][G1473].
18: And [G2532] BOSS was enraged [G2373][G2962] exceedingly [G4970] with [G1722] the [G3588] Israel, and [G2532] he removed them [G1473] from the [G3588] his face [G4383][G1473]. He did not [G3756] leave [any] behind [G5275] except [G4133] tribe [G5443] of Judah alone [G3441].
19: And [G2532] indeed [G1065] Judah did not [G3756] guard [G5442] the [G3588] commandments [G1785] of Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of him [G1473], and [G2532] they went [G4198] by [G1722] the [G3588] ordinances [G1345] of Israel, which [G3739] they did [G4160], and [G2532] they thrusted away the [G3588] Boss '[G2962].
20: And [G2532] BOSS was enraged [G2373][G2962] with all [G3956] seed [G4690] of Israel, and [G2532] he shook [G4531] them [off [G1473], and [G2532] gave [G1325] them [G1473] into [G1722] hand [G5495] of the [G3588] [ones] tearing them in pieces [G1283][G1473], until [G2193] of which [time] [G3739] he threw them away [G1473] from his face [G4383][G1473].
21: Except that [G3754][G4133] Israel was torn [G4486] from the [G3588] house [G3624] of David; and [G2532] they gave reign to the [G3588] Jeroboam son [G5207] of Nebat. And [G2532] Jeroboam banished [G1856] the [G3588] Israel from following the [G3588] Boss '[G2962], and [G2532] he led them into sin [G1473] -- sin a great [G3173].
22: And [G2532] went [G4198] the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Israel] in [G1722] all [G3956] sins of Jeroboam which [G3739] he did [G4160] -- they did not [G3756] abstain from them [G1473];
23: until [G2193] of which [time] [G3739] BOSS removed [G3179][G2962] the [G3588] Israel from his face [G4383][G1473], as [G5613] spoke [G2980] Boss '[G2962] by [G1722] hand [G5495] of all [G3956] the [G3588] his servants [G1401][G1473] the [G3588] prophets [G4396]. And [G2532] Israel was resettled from the [G3588] its land '[G1093][G1473] into [G1519] Assyria until [G2193] the [G3588] this day [G2250][G3778].
24: And [G2532] conveyed ' king of Assyrians] from out of [G1537] Babylon the [one] the [G3588] from out of [G1537] Cuthah, and [G2532] from out off Ava, and [G2532] from out off Hamath, and [G2532] Sepharvaim, and [G2532] settled them [G1473] in [G1722] the [G3588] cities [G4172] of Samaria instead of the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Israel. And [G2532] they inherited [G2816] the [G3588] Samaria, and [G2532] they settled in [G1722] the [G3588] its cities [G4172][G1473].
25: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] in [G1722] beginning of the [G3588]ir [place] of sitting down [G2515][G1473], they did not [G3756] fear [G5399] the [G3588] Boss '[G2962]. And [G2532] BOSS sent [G2962] among [G1722] them [G1473] the [G3588] lions [G3023], and [G2532] they were being killed by [G1722] them [G1473].
26: And [G2532] they said [G2036] to the [G3588] king of Assyrians, saying [G3004], the [G3588] tradition-peoples (ethnics) '[G1484] which [G3739] you resettled and [G2532] relocated , in [G1722] the [G3588] cities [G4172] of Samaria, they know not [G3756][G1097] the [G3588] distinguishing [manner [G2917] of the [G3588] God '[G2316] of the [G3588] land '[G1093]. And [G2532] he sent to [G1519] them [G1473] lions [G3023], and [G2532] look [G2400], they are killing them [G2289][G1473], in so far as [G2530] they do not [G3756] know [G1492] the [G3588] distinguishing [manner [G2917] of the [G3588] God '[G2316] of the [G3588] land '[G1093].
27: And [G2532] gave charge [G1781] the [G3588] king of Assyrians], saying [G3004], Lead away there [G1563] one [G1520] of the [G3588] priests [G2409] whom [G3739] I resettled from [G1537] Samaria! and [G2532] let him go [G4198] and [G2532] let him dwell [G2730] there [G1563]! and [G2532] he will enlighten [G5461] them [G1473] on the [G3588] distinguishing [manner [G2917] of the [G3588] God '[G2316] of the [G3588] land '[G1093].
28: And [G2532] they conveyed ' one [G1520] of the [G3588] priests [G2409] which [G3739] they resettled from Samaria, and [G2532] he sat down [G2523] in [G1722] Bethel. And [G2532] he was enlightening [G5461] them [G1473] how [G4459] they should fear [G5399] the [G3588] Boss '[G2962].
29: And [G2532] were making [G4160] tradition-people (ethnic) '[G1484] [by] tradition-people (ethnic) '[G1484] the [G3588]ir gods '[G2316][G1473]. And [G2532] they put [G5087] them [G1473] in [G1722] houses [G3624] of the [G3588] high [places [G5308], which [G3739] made [G4160] the [G3588] Samaritans], tradition-people (ethnic) '[G1484] [by] tradition-people (ethnic) '[G1484] in [G1722] the [G3588]ir cities [G4172][G1473] in [G1722] which [G3739] they dwelt [G2730].
30: And [G2532] the [G3588] men of Babylon made [G4160] the [G3588] Succoth Benoth. And [G2532] the [G3588] men of Cuth made [G4160] the [G3588] Nergal. And [G2532] the [G3588] men of Hamath made [G4160] the [G3588] Ashima.
31: And [G2532] the [G3588] Avites made [G4160] the [G3588] Nibhaz and [G2532] the [G3588] Tartak. And [G2532] the [G3588] Sepharvites incinerated [G2618] the [G3588]ir sons [G5207][G1473] by [G1722] fire [G4442] the [G3588] to Adrammelech and [G2532] Anammelech, gods '[G2316] of the Sepharvaim.
32: And [G2532] they were fearing [G5399] the [G3588] Boss '[G2962], and [G2532] they made [G4160] for themselves [G1438] priests [G2409] of the [G3588] high [places [G5308]; and [G2532] they offered [G4160] for themselves [G1438] in [G1722] the [G3588] houses [G3624] of the [G3588] high [places [G5308].
33: the the [G3588] Boss '[G2962] They were fearing [G5399], and [G2532] the [G3588]ir gods '[G2316][G1473] they served [G3000], according to [G2596] the [G3588] distinguishing [manner [G2917] of the [G3588] tradition-peoples (ethnics) '[G1484] from where [G3606] he resettled them [G1473] from there [G1564].
34: Until [G2193] the [G3588] this day [G2250][G3778] they [G1473] do [G4160] according to [G2596] the [G3588]ir distinguishing [manner [G2917][G1473]. They are not [G3756] fearing [G5399] the [G3588] Boss '[G2962], and [G2532][G3756][G1473] they do not do [G4160] according to [G2596] the [G3588]ir ordinances [G1345][G1473], and [G2532] according to [G2596] the [G3588]ir judgment [G2920][G1473], and [G2532] according to [G2596] the [G3588] law [G3551], and [G2532] according to [G2596] the [G3588] commandment [G1785] which [G3739] BOSS gave charge [G1781][G2962] to the [G3588] sons [G5207] of Jacob, of whom [G3739] he established [G5087] the [G3588] name [G3686] of him [G1473] Israel.
35: And [G2532] BOSS ordained [G1303][G2962] with [G3326] them [G1473] a covenant [G1242], and [G2532] he gave charge [G1781] to them [G1473], saying [G3004], You will not fear [G3756][G5399] gods '[G2316] other [G2087], and [G2532] you will not do obeisance to [G3756][G4352] them [G1473], and [G2532] you will not serve [G3756][G3000] to them [G1473], and [G2532] you will not sacrifice [G3756][G2380] to them [G1473].
36: For [G3754] only to the [G3588] Boss '[G2962], who [G3739] led you [G1473] from out of [G1537] land '[G1093] of Egypt with [G1722] strength [G2479] great [G3173] and [G2532] with [G1722] arm [G1023] a high [G5308], him [G1473] you will fear [G5399], and [G2532] to him [G1473] you will do obeisance [G4352], and [G2532] to him [G1473] you will sacrifice [G2380].
37: And [G2532] the [G3588] his ordinances [G1345][G1473], and [G2532] the [G3588] judgments [G2917], and [G2532] the [G3588] commandments [G1785], and [G2532] the [G3588] law [G3551] which [G3739] he wrote [G1125] for you [G1473], you will guard [G5442] to do [G4160] all [G3956] the [G3588] days [G2250], and [G2532] you will not [G3756] fear [G5399] gods '[G2316] other [G2087].
38: And [G2532] the [G3588] covenant [G1242] which [G3739] he ordained [G1303] with [G3326] you [G1473] you will not [G3756] forget [G1950]; and [G2532] you will not [G3756] fear [G5399] gods '[G2316] other [G2087].
39: For [G3754] only the [G3588] Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of you [G1473] -- him [G1473] you will fear [G5399]; and [G2532] he [G1473] will rescue [G1807] you [G1473] from [G1537] hand [G5495] of all [G3956] the [G3588] enemies [G2190] of you [G1473].
40: And [G2532] they hearkened not [G3756], but only in [G1722] the [G3588] ordinances [G1345] their [G1473] for the [G3588]mer [G4413] they [G1473] acted [G4160].
41: And [G2532] were the [G3588] tradition-peoples (ethnics) '[G1484] these [G3778] fearing [G5399] the [G3588] Boss '[G2962], and [G2532] [to the [G3588]ir carvings [G1473] they served [G1398]; even [G2532] indeed [G1065] the [G3588]ir sons [G5207][G1473], and [G2532] the [G3588] sons [G5207] of the [G3588]ir sons [G5207][G1473] -- as [G2531] did [G4160] the [G3588]ir fathers [G3962][G1473] they [G1473] do [G4160] unto [G2193] the [G3588] this day [G2250][G3778].
