1 Samuel Chapter 20 - | Early Church Bible

1: And [G2532] David ran away from [G1537] Naioth in [G1722] Ramah, and [G2532] he came [G2064] before [G1799] Jonathan. And [G2532] he said [G2036], What [G5100] have I done [G4160], and [G2532] what [is [G5100] the [G3588] my offence [G1473], and [G2532] how [G5100] have I sinned before [G1799] the [G3588] father [G3962] of us [G1473], that [G3754] he seeks anxiously [G1934] the [G3588] life [G5590] of me [G1473]?
2: And [G2532] said [G2036] to him [G1473] Jonathan], Far be it [G3365] to you [G1473]. In no way will you die . Look [G2400], in no way will do [G4160] the [G3588] father [G3962] of me [G1473] a thing [G4487], great [G3173] or [G2228] small [G3397], and [G2532] will not [G3756] reveal it in the [G3588] my ear [G5621][G1473]. And [G2532] why [G5100][G3754] will hide [G2928] the [G3588] father [G3962] of me [G1473] from me [G1473] the [G3588] this thing [G4487][G3778]? not [G3756] is This] [so [G3778].
3: And [G2532] David answered the [G3588] Jonathan, and [G2532] he said [G2036], In perceiving [G1097], sees [G1492] the [G3588] father [G3962] of you [G1473] that [G3754] I have found [G2147] favor [G5484] in [G1722] eyes [G3788] of you [G1473]. And [G2532] he said [G2036], Let not [G3361] know [G1097] this [G3778] Jonathan], lest [G3378] he should prefer [him [G1014]! But as lives [G2198] Boss '[G2962], and [G2532] as lives [G2198] the [G3588] your soul [G5590][G1473], that [G3754] as [G2531] I said [G2036], [the space] is filled up [G1705] between me [G1473] and [G2532] between the [G3588] father [G3962] of us [G1473] unto [G2193] death [G2288].
4: And [G2532] Jonathan said [G2036] to [G4314] David, What does [G5100] desire [G1937] the [G3588] your soul [G5590][G1473], and [G2532] what [G5100] should I do [G4160] for you [G1473]?
5: And [G2532] David said [G2036] to [G4314] Jonathan, look [G2400] indeed [G1211], [it is] a new moon [G3561] tomorrow , and [G2532] I [G1473] in sitting down [G2523] should sit down [G2521] with [G3326] the [G3588] king to eat [G2068]. And [G2532] you will send [G1821] me [G1473], and [G2532] I will be hid [G2928] in [G1722] the [G3588] plain until [G2193] afternoon .
6: If [G1437] in numbering [G1980] should number [G1980] me [missing [G1473] the [G3588] your father [G3962][G1473], then [G2532] you will say [G2046], In asking pardon [G3868] asks pardon [G3868] off me [G1473] David] to run [G5143] unto [G2193][G1519] Beth-lehem the [G3588] his city [G4172][G1473], for [G3754] sacrifice [G2378] of the [G3588] [feast] days [G2250] [is] there [G1563] [for the] entire [G3650] the [G3588] tribe [G5443].
7: If [G1437] thus [G3592] he should say [G2036], Fine , [then it will be] peace [G1515] [to the [G3588] your servant [G1401][G1473]. And [G2532] if [G1437] harshly he should answer to you [G1473], know [G1097] that [G3754] is completed [G4931] the [G3588] evil [G2549] by [G3844] him [G1473]!
8: And [G2532] you will do [G4160] compassion [G1656] with [G3326] the [G3588] your servant [G1401][G1473], for [G3754] you brought [G1521] the [G3588] your servant [G1401][G1473] into [G1519] a covenant [G1242] of Boss '[G2962] with [G3326] yourself [G4572]. And [G2532] if [G1487] there is injustice in [G1722] the [G3588] your servant [G1401][G1473], put me to death [G2289][G1473] you [G1473]! And [G2532] unto [G2193] the [G3588] father [G3962] of you [G1473] why [G2444] thus [G3779] should you bring [G1521] me [G1473]?
9: And [G2532] Jonathan said [G2036], Far be it [G3365] to you [G1473]; for [G3754] if [G1437] in knowing [G1097] I should know [G1097] that [G3754] is completed [G4931] the [G3588] evil [G2549] by [G3844] the [G3588] father [G3962] of me [G1473] the [G3588] to come [G2064] against [G1909] you [G1473], then [G2532] would I not report [it [G3361] to you [G1473]?
10: And [G2532] David said [G2036] to [G4314] Jonathan, Who [G5100] will report to me [G1473] if [G1437] should answer the [G3588] father [G3962] of you [G1473] harshly ?
11: And [G2532] Jonathan said [G2036] to [G4314] David, You go [G4198]! for [G2532] we should go out [G1831] in [G1519] field . And [G2532] they went forth [G1607] both into [G1519] field .
12: And [G2532] Jonathan said [G2036] to [G4314] David, Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of Israel knows [G1492] that [G3754] I will question the [G3588] father [G3962] of me [G1473] according to [G2596] time [G2540] a third . And [G2532] look [G2400], if it should be good for [G5228] David, then [G2532] in no way will I send to [G4314] you [G1473] in [G1519] field .
13: Thus [G3592] God do [G4160] the [G3588][G2316] the [G3588] to Jonathan, and [G2532] thus [G3592] add to it [G4369], if [G1437] I will not bring [G3361] the [G3588] evils [G2556] unto [G1909] you [G1473], and [G2532] I will uncover the [G3588] your ear [G5621][G1473], and [G2532] I will send [G1821] you [G1473], and [G2532] you will go [G4198] in [G1519] peace [G1515]. And [G2532] BOSS will be [G2962] with [G3326] you [G1473], as [G2531] he was with [G3326] the [G3588] father [G3962] of me [G1473].
14: And [G2532] if [G1437] [during [G2089] my [G1473] living [G2198] you will do [G4160] with [G3326] me [G1473] compassion [G1656] of Boss '[G2962], even [G2532] if [G1437] in death [G2288] I should die ,
15: you will not [G3756] remove [G1808] your compassion [G1656][G1473] from the [G3588] my house [G3624][G1473] unto [G2193] the [G3588] age (term) `. And [G2532] not [even [G3361] in [G1722] the [G3588] removing [G1808] [by the] Boss '[G2962] of the [G3588] enemies [G2190] of David, each [G1538] from the [G3588] face [G4383] of the [G3588] land '[G1093],
16: will be lifted away [G1808] the [G3588] Jonathan] from the [G3588] house [G3624] of David, even [G2532] if BOSS should require [G1567][G2962] from [G1537] hands [G5495] of enemies [G2190] of David.
17: And [G2532] Jonathan proceeded [G4369] to swear by an oath [G3660] [to the [G3588] David, because of [G1223] the [G3588] loving him [G1473], for [G3754] he loved soul [G5590] loving him [G1473].
18: And [G2532] said [G2036] to him [G1473] Jonathan], Tomorrow [is a] new moon [G3561], and [G2532] overseeing [G1984] will be watched [G1980] the [G3588] your chair [G2515][G1473].
19: And [G2532] you will do it three times , and [G2532] you will watch [G1980], and [G2532] you will come [G2240] into [G1519] the [G3588] place [G5117] where [G3739] you may hide [G2928] there [G1563] in the [G3588] day [G2250] of the [G3588] deed [G2039], and [G2532] you will sit down [G2521] by [G3844] the [G3588] that stone [G3037][G1565].
20: And [G2532] I [G1473] will be three times in [G1722] the [G3588] darts shooting , and [G2532] sending them forth [G1599] to [G1519] the [G3588] mark .
21: And [G2532] look [G2400], I will send the [G3588] servant-lad [G3808], saying [G3004], Come [G1204] find [G2147] to me [G1473] the [G3588] dart ! If [G1437] I should say [G2036] to the [G3588] servant-lad [G3808], Here [is [G5602] the [G3588] dart away from you [G1473] here [G5602], take [G2983] it [G1473]! [then] you come [G3854], for [G3754] peace [G1515] [will be] to you [G1473], and [G2532] there is no [G3756] [bad] communication [G3056]; as lives [G2198] Boss '[G2962].
22: But if [G1437][G1161] thus [G3592] I should say [G2036] to the [G3588] young man [G3494], Here [is [G5602] the [G3588] dart , away from you [G1473] and [G2532] beyond [G1900]. Go [G4198]! for [G3754] sends [G1821] you out [G1473] Boss '[G2962].
23: And [G2532] concerning [G4012] the [G3588] word [G4487] which [G3739] we have spoken [G2980], I [G1473] and [G2532] you [G1473], look [G2400], Boss '[G2962] [is] witness [G3144] between me [G1473] and [G2532] you [G1473] unto [G2193] age (term) `.
24: And [G2532] David was hidden [G2928] in [G1722] field . And [G2532] it became [G1096] a new moon [G3561], and [G2532] comes [G2064] the [G3588] king unto [G1909] the [G3588] table [G5132] the [G3588] to eat [G2068].
25: And [G2532] sat down [G2523] the [G3588] king upon [G1909] the [G3588] his chair [G2515][G1473] as [G5613] once and [G2532] once before that , upon [G1909] the [G3588] chair [G2515] by [G3844] wall [G5109]. And [G2532] went beforehand by [G4399] him [G1473] Jonathan], and [G2532] Abner sat down [G2523] by [G1537] side of the [G3588] Saul. And [G2532] was watched [G1980] the [G3588] place [G5117] of the [G3588] David].
26: And [G2532] did not [G3756] say [G2980] Saul] anything [G3762] in [G1722] the [G3588] that day [G2250][G1565], for [G3754] he said [G2036], A coincidence , for he appears [G5316] not [G3361] clean [G2513] to be , for [G3754] he has not [G3756] cleansed [himself [G2511].
27: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] in the [G3588] next day [G1887] of the [G3588] month [G3376], the [G3588] day [G2250] the [G3588] second [G1208], and [G2532] was watched [G1980] the [G3588] place [G5117] of the [G3588] David]. And [G2532] Saul said [G2036] to [G4314] Jonathan the [G3588] son [G5207] of him [G1473], Why [is it [G5100] that [G3754] he has not [G3756] come [G3854], the [G3588] son [G5207] of Jesse, even [G2532] yesterday [G5504] and [G2532] today [G4594] unto [G1909] the [G3588] table [G5132]?
28: And [G2532] Jonathan answered the [G3588] Saul, and [G2532] said [G2036], asks pardon [G3868] of [G3844] me [G1473] David], so as [G2193] to [G1519] Beth-lehem the [G3588] his city [G4172][G1473] to go [G4198].
29: And [G2532] he said [G2036], Send [G1821] me indeed [G1211][G1473], for [G3754] a sacrifice [G2378] of the [G3588] tribe [G5443] we [have [G1473] in [G1722] the [G3588] city [G4172], and [G2532] gave charge [G1781] for [G4314] me [G1473] the [G3588] my brothers [G1473]. And [G2532] now [G3568] if [G1487] I have found [G2147] favor [G5484] in [G1722] eyes [G3788] of you [G1473], I will go forth indeed [G1211] and [G2532] see [G3708] the [G3588] my brothers [G1473]. On account of [G1223] this [G3778] he does not [G3756] come [G3854] unto [G1909] the [G3588] table [G5132] of the [G3588] king .
30: And [G2532] was enraged [G2373] in anger [G3709] Saul] at [G1909] Jonathan exceedingly [G4970], and [G2532] said [G2036] to him [G1473], O son [G5207] woman [G2877] of a deserting , not [G3756] for [G1063] do you] know [G1492] that [G3754] you [G1473] are a partner [G3353] to the [G3588] son [G5207] of Jesse for [G1519] your shame [G1473], and [G2532] for [G1519] shame of uncovering your mother [G3384][G1473]?
31: For [G3754] all [G3956] the [G3588] days [G2250] which [G3739] the [G3588] son [G5207] of Jesse lives [G2198] upon [G1909] the [G3588] land '[G1093], you will not be prepared [G3756][G2090], you [G1473] nor [G3761] the [G3588] your government '[G1473]. Now [G3568] then [G3767], send and [G2532] take [G2983] the [G3588] young man [G3494]! for [G3754] a son [G5207] of death [G2288] he is .
32: And [G2532] Jonathan responded [to the [G3588] Saul his father [G3962][G1473], and [G2532] said [G2036], Why [G2444] does he die ? What [G5100] has he done [G4160]?
33: And [G2532] Saul lifted up [G1869] the [G3588] spear against [G1909] Jonathan the [G3588] to put him to death [G2289][G1473]. And [G2532] Jonathan knew [G1097] that [G3754] has been completed [G4931] the [G3588] this evil [G2549][G3778] by [G3844] the [G3588] his father [G3962][G1473] the [G3588] to put David to death [G2289].
34: And [G2532] Jonathan jumped up from the [G3588] table [G5132] in [G1722] anger [G3709] of rage [G2372]. And [G2532] he did not [G3756] eat [G2068] bread on [G1722] the [G3588] second [G1208] day [G2250] of the [G3588] month [G3376], for [G3754] he was devastated [G2352] for [G1909] the [G3588] David, for [G3754] planned [G1011] the [G3588] his father [G3962][G1473] to finish him off [G4931][G1473].
35: And [G2532] it became [G1096] morning [G4404], and [G2532] Jonathan came forth [G1831] into [G1519] field as [G2531] he gave order [G5021] for [G1519] the [G3588] testimony [G3142] [to the [G3588] David, and [G2532] servant-lad [G3808] small [G3397] was with [G3326] him [G1473].
36: And [G2532] he said [G2036] to the [G3588] servant-lad [G3808], You run [G5143][G1473] and [G2532] find [G2147] for me [G1473] the [G3588] darts which [G3739] I [G1473] will shoot ! And [G2532] the [G3588] servant-lad [G3808] ran [G5143]. And [G2532] he [G1473] shot the [G3588] arrow , and [G2532] it passed by [G3855] him [G1473].
37: And [G2532] came [G2064] the [G3588] servant-lad [G3808] unto [G2193] the [G3588] place [G5117] of the [G3588] arrows which [G3739] Jonathan shot . And [G2532] Jonathan yelled out after [G3694] the [G3588] boy [G3808], and [G2532] said [G2036], [is] there [G1563] the [G3588] dart [away] from you [G1473] and [G2532] beyond [G1900].
38: And [G2532] Jonathan yelled out after [G3694] the [G3588] his servant-lad [G3808][G1473], saying [G3004], In hastening , you hasten [G4692]! for [G2532] you should not [G3361] stand [G2476]. And [G2532] gathered up the [G3588] servant-lad [G3808] of Jonathan] the [G3588] darts , and [G2532] he brought [G5342] the [G3588] darts to [G4314] the [G3588] his boss [G2962][G1473].
39: And [G2532] the [G3588] servant-lad [G3808] did not [G3756] know [G1097] anything [G3762], only Jonathan and [G2532] David knew [G1097] the [G3588] thing [G4487].
40: And [G2532] Jonathan gave [G1325] the [G3588] his weapons [G4632][G1473] to [G1909] the [G3588] his servant-lad [G3808][G1473], and [G2532] said [G2036] [to the [G3588] his servant-lad [G3808][G1473], Go [G4198], enter [G1525] into [G1519] the [G3588] city [G4172]!
41: And [G2532] as [G5613] entered [the city [G1525] the [G3588] servant-lad [G3808], then [G2532] David rose up from the [G3588] chest , and [G2532] fell [G4098] upon [G1909] his face [G4383][G1473] upon [G1909] the [G3588] land '[G1093], and [G2532] did obeisance to [G4352] him [G1473] three times [G5151]. And [G2532] kissed [G2705] each [G1538] the [G3588] his dear one [G4139][G1473], and [G2532] wept [G2799] each [G1538] over [G1909] the [G3588] his dear one [G4139][G1473] unto [G2193] finale [G4930] of a great [G3173] David exceeded [G5235].
42: And [G2532] Jonathan said [G2036] to [G4314] David, Go [G4198] in [G1519] peace [G1515]! And [G2532] as [G5613] we swore by an oath [G3660], both of us [G1473] in [G1722] name [G3686] of Boss '[G2962], saying [G3004], Boss '[G2962] will be witness [G3144] between me [G1473] and [G2532] you [G1473], and [G2532] between the [G3588] my seed [G4690][G1473] and [G2532] the [G3588] your seed [G4690][G1473], unto [G2193] age (term) `. And [G2532] David rose up and [G2532] went forth . And [G2532] Jonathan entered [G1525] into [G1519] the [G3588] city [G4172].
