1 Kings Chapter 18 - | Early Church Bible

1: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] after [G3326] days [G2250] many [G4183], and [G2532] word [G4487] of Boss '[G2962] came [G1096] to [G4314] Elijah in [G1722] the [G3588] year [G1763] the [G3588] third [G5154], saying [G3004], Go [G4198], and [G2532] appear [G3708] to the [G3588] Ahab! and [G2532] I will put [G1325] rain [G5205] upon [G1909] face [G4383] of the [G3588] land '[G1093].
2: And [G2532] Elijah went [G4198] the [G3588] to appear [G3708] [to the [G3588] Ahab, and [G2532] there was [G3739] famine [G3042] a strong [G2900] in [G1722] Samaria.
3: And [G2532] Ahab called [G2564] the [G3588] Obadiah the [G3588] manager [G3623]. And [G2532] Obadiah was fearing [G5399] the [G3588] Boss '[G2962] exceedingly [G4970].
4: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] when [G1722] the [G3588] Jezebel struck [G5180] the [G3588] prophets [G4396] of Boss '[G2962], that [G2532] Obadiah took [G2983] a hundred [G1540] prophets [G4396], and [G2532] he hid them [G1473] by fifty [G4004] in [G1722] two [G1417] caves [G4693], and [G2532] nourished them [G1473] with [G1722] bread and [G2532] water [G5204].
5: And [G2532] Ahab said [G2036] to [G4314] Obadiah, Come [G1204], and [G2532] we should go through [G1330] in [G1722] the [G3588] land '[G1093] unto [G1909] the [G3588] springs [G4077] of the [G3588] waters [G5204], and [G2532] unto [G1909] all [G3956] the [G3588] rushing streams [G5493], if [G1487] perchance [G4458] we should find [G2147] pasturage [G1008], and [G2532] we should preserve [G4046] horses [G2462] and [G2532] mules , and [G2532] will not be destroyed [G3756][G1842] from us [G1473] cattle [G2934].
6: And [G2532] they divided [G1266] to themselves [G1438] the [G3588] way [G3598] the [G3588] to go [G4198] by [G1722] it [G1473]; Ahab went [G4198] by [G1722] way [G3598] one [G1520], and [G2532] Obadiah went [G4198] by [G1722] way [G3598] another alone [G3441].
7: And [G2532] Obadiah was in [G1722] the [G3588] way [G3598] alone [G3441], and [G2532] look [G2400], Elijah [came] to [G1519] meet with [G4877] him [G1473]. And [G2532] Obadiah hastened [G4692] and [G2532] fell [G4098] upon [G1909] his face [G4383][G1473], and [G2532] he said [G2036], Are you [G1487][G1473] he [G1473], O my boss [G2962][G1473], Elijah?
8: And [G2532] Elijah said [G2036] to him [G1473], I [am [G1473], Go [G4198], tell [G3004] the [G3588] your boss [G2962][G1473], look [G2400], Elijah!
9: And [G2532] Obadiah said [G2036], How [G5100] have I sinned that [G3754] you [G1473] appoint [G1325] the [G3588] your servant [G1401][G1473] into [G1519] hands [G5495] of Ahab the [G3588] to kill [G2289] me [G1473]?
10: As lives [G2198] Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] your God '[G2316][G1473], is there [G1487] an tradition-people (ethnic) '[G1484] or [G2228] government ' of which [G3739] did not [G3756] send the [G3588] my boss [G2962][G1473] to seek [G2212] you [G1473]? And [G2532] if [G1487] they said [G2036], He is not [here [G3756]; then [G2532] he adjured [G3726] the [G3588] government ' and [G2532] the [G3588] its places [G5561][G1473], for [G3754] he did not [G3756] find [G2147] you [G1473].
11: And [G2532] now [G3568] you [G1473] say [G3004], Go [G4198] announce [to the [G3588] your boss [G2962][G1473], look [G2400], Elijah!
12: And [G2532] it will be if [G1437] I [G1473] should go forth from you [G1473], and [G2532] a wind/spirit/breathing '[G4151] of Boss '[G2962] will lift you [G1473] into [G1519] the [G3588] land '[G1093] which [G3739] I do not [G3756] know [G1492], and [G2532] I will enter [G1525] the [G3588] to report the [G3588] to Ahab, and [G2532] he should not [G3756] find [G2147] you [G1473], then [G2532] he will kill me [G1473]. But [G2532] the [G3588] your servant [G1401][G1473] is fearing [G5399] the [G3588] Boss '[G2962] from out of [G1537] his youth [G3503][G1473].
13: Or [G2228] was it not [G3756] reported to you [G1473], the [G3588] O my boss [G2962][G1473], what [things] [G3634] I have done [G4160] when [G1722] the [G3588] Jezebel killed the [G3588] prophets [G4396] of Boss '[G2962], that [G2532] I took [G2983] some [G1537] of the [G3588] prophets [G4396] of Boss '[G2962] -- a hundred [G1540] men , and [G2532] I hid [G2928] them [G1473] in [G1722] the [G3588] caves [G4693] by fifty [G4004], and [G2532] I maintained [G5142] them [G1473] with [G1722] bread loaves and [G2532] water [G5204]?
14: And [G2532] now [G3568] you [G1473] say [G3004], Go [G4198], tell [G3004] the [G3588] your boss [G2962][G1473], look [G2400], Elijah! and [G2532] he will kill me [G1473].
15: And [G2532] Elijah said [G2036], As lives [G2198] Boss '[G2962] of for the [G3588]ces [G1411], in which [G3739] I stand [G3936] before [G1799] him [G1473], that [G3754] today [G4594] I will appear [G3708] to him [G1473].
16: And [G2532] Obadiah went [G4198] to [G1519] meet with [G4877] the [G3588] Ahab, and [G2532] he reported to him [G1473]. And [G2532] Ahab ran forth and [G2532] went [G4198] to [G1519] meet with [G4877] Elijah.
17: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] as [G5613] Ahab saw [G1492] the [G3588] Elijah, that [G2532] Ahab said [G2036] to [G4314] Elijah, Are you [G1487][G1473] he [G1473] the [G3588] turning aside [G1294] the [G3588] Israel?
18: And [G2532] Elijah said [G2036], I do not [G3756] turn aside [G1294] the [G3588] Israel, but you [G1473], and [G2532] the [G3588] house [G3624] of the [G3588] father [G3962] of you [G1473], in [G1722] the [G3588] your leaving [G1473] the [G3588] Boss '[G2962] your God '[G2316][G1473], and [G2532] to go [G4198] after [G3694] the [G3588] Baalim.
19: And [G2532] now [G3568], send and [G2532] gather together [G4867] to [G4314] me [G1473] all [G3956] Israel at [G1519] the [G3588] raised-place (mountain) '[G3735] the [G3588] Carmel, and [G2532] the [G3588] prophets [G4396] of the [G3588] Baal -- four hundred [G5071] and [G2532] fifty [G4004], and [G2532] the [G3588] prophets [G4396] of the [G3588] sacred groves -- four hundred [G5071], eating [G2068] [at the] table [G5132] of Jezebel!
20: And [G2532] Ahab sent into [G1519] all [G3956] the [G3588] Israel, and [G2532] he assembled [G1996] all [G3956] the [G3588] prophets [G4396] to [G1519] the [G3588] raised-place (mountain) '[G3735] the [G3588] Carmel.
21: And [G2532] Elijah came near [G4334] to [G4314] all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992], and [G2532] he said [G2036] to [G4314] them [G1473], For [G2193] how long [G4219] will you [G1473] be lame upon [G1909] both the [G3588] your hams [G1473]? If [G1487] BOSS is [G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316], go [G4198] after [G3694] him [G1473]! But if [G1487][G1161] the [G3588] Baal, go [G4198] after [G3694] him [G1473]! And [G2532] answered not [G3756] the [G3588] people [G2992] a word [G3056].
22: And [G2532] Elijah said [G2036] to [G4314] the [G3588] people [G2992], I [G1473] am left [G5275] a prophet [G4396] [of the] Boss '[G2962] alone [G3441], and [G2532] the [G3588] prophets [G4396] of the [G3588] Baal [are] four hundred [G5071] and [G2532] fifty [G4004] men .
23: Give then [G1325][G3767] to us [G1473] two [G1417] oxen [G1016], and [G2532] let them choose [G1586] for themselves [G1438] the [G3588] [one] [G1520], and [G2532] let them dismember [it , and [G2532] place [it [G2007] upon [G1909] the [G3588] wood [G3586], and [G2532] fire [G4442] do not [G3361] put] upon [it [G2007]! And [G2532] I [G1473] will do [the same [G4160] the [G3588] ox [G1016] the [G3588] [with the] other , and [G2532] fire [G4442] in no way will I put] upon [it [G2007].
24: And [G2532] you yell out in [G1722] name [G3686] of the [G3588] your gods '[G2316][G1473], and [G2532] I [G1473] will call [G1941] upon [G1722] the [G3588] name [G3686] of Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of me [G1473]. And [G2532] it will be the [G3588] God '[G2316] who [G3739] ever heeds [G1873] by [G1722] fire [G4442], this [G3778] [is] God '[G2316]. And [G2532] answered all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992] and [G2532] said [G2036], [is] good the [G3588] word [G3056] which [G3739] you have spoken [G2980].
25: And [G2532] Elijah said [G2036] to the [G3588] prophets [G4396] of [G1473] Baal, Choose [G1586] for yourselves [G1438] the [G3588] ox [G1016] the [G3588] [one] [G1520], and [G2532] prepare it [G4160] first [G4413]! for [G3754] you [G1473] [are] many [G4183]; and [G2532] call [G1941] in [G1722] name [G3686] of your god [G2316][G1473], and [G2532] fire [G4442] do not [G3361] put] upon [it [G2007]!
26: And [G2532] they took [G2983] the [G3588] ox [G1016], and [G2532] offered it [G4160], and [G2532] they called [G1941] in [G1722] name [G3686] of the [G3588] Baal from [G1537] morning [G4405] until [G2193] midday [G3314]. And [G2532] they said [G2036], Heed [G1873] us [G1473], O [G5599] Baal, heed [G1873] us [G1473]! And [G2532] no [G3756] there was sound [G5456], and [G2532] no [G3756] there was hearing [a thing . And [G2532] they ran upon [G1909] the [G3588] altar [G2379] of which [G3739] they made [G4160].
27: And [G2532] it became [G1096] midday [G3314], and [G2532] sneered at [G3456] them [G1473] Elijah the [G3588] Tishbite], and [G2532] he said [G2036], Call [G1941] with [G1722] voice [G5456] a great [G3173]! perhaps [G3379] in meditation some [G5100] he is himself [G1473], and [G2532] at the same time perhaps [G3379] executing [business [G5537] he is [G1473], or [G2228] perhaps [G3379] he sleeps [G2518] and [G2532] will rise up [G1817].
28: And [G2532] they called out [G1941] with [G1722] voice [G5456] a great [G3173], and [G2532] mutilated [themselves according to [G2596] the [G3588]ir custom [G1473] with [G1722] knives [G3162] and [G2532] by [G1722] spears , until [G2193] poured out blood of [G1909] them [G1473].
29: And [G2532] they prophesied [G4395] until [G2193] of which [time] [G3739] it went into [G3928] the [G3588] midday [G3314]. And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] as [G5613] the [G3588] time [G2540] of the [G3588] midday [G3314] the [G3588] to go up for the [G3588] sacrifice [G2378] -- and [G2532] no [G3756] there was sound [G5456], and [G2532] no [G3756] there was hearing .
30: And [G2532] Elijah said [G2036] to [G4314] the [G3588] people [G2992], Come forward [G4317] to [G4314] me [G1473]! And [G2532] came forward [G4317] all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992] to [G4314] him [G1473]. And [G2532] he repaired [G2390] the [G3588] altar [G2379], the [G3588] [one] having been razed [G2679].
31: And [G2532] Elijah took [G2983] twelve [G1427] stones [G3037], according to [G2596] number of the [G3588] tribes [G5443] of the [G3588] Israel, as [G5613] spoke [G2980] Boss '[G2962] to [G4314] him [G1473], saying [G3004], Israel will be the [G3588] name [G3686] of you [G1473].
32: And [G2532] he built [G3618] the [G3588] stones [G3037] in [G1722] name [G3686] of Boss '[G2962], and [G2532] he repaired [G2390] the [G3588] altar [G2379] of Boss '[G2962], the [G3588] [one] having been razed [G2679]. And [G2532] he made [G4160] a sea [G2281], having the space [G5562] to hold two [G1417] measures [G3355] of seed [G4690], round about [G2943] the [G3588] altar [G2379].
33: And [G2532] he put [G2007] the [G3588] kindling upon [G1909] the [G3588] altar [G2379] which [G3739] he made [G4160]. And [G2532] he dismembered the [G3588] whole burnt-offering [G3646], and [G2532] he put it [G2007] upon [G1909] the [G3588] kindling , and [G2532] he piled upon [G1909] the [G3588] altar [G2379]. And [G2532] Elijah said [G2036], Bring [G2983] to me [G1473] four [G5064] pitchers [G5201] water [G5204], and [G2532] pour [G2022] upon [G1909] the [G3588] whole burnt-offering [G3646], and [G2532] upon [G1909] the [G3588] kindling !
34: And [G2532] he said [G2036], Repeat it a second time ! And [G2532] they repeated it a second time . And [G2532] he said [G2036], Do it a third time ! And [G2532] they did it a third time .
35: And [G2532] went [G4198] the [G3588] water [G5204] round about [G2945] the [G3588] altar [G2379], and [G2532] the [G3588] sea [G2281] filled [G4130] with water [G5204].
36: And [G2532] as [G5613] it was time [G2540] of of the [G3588]fering [G4374] the [G3588] sacrifice [G2378], and [G2532] came [G3854] Elijah the [G3588] prophet [G4396] and [G2532] said [G2036], O Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of Abraham, and [G2532] Isaac, and [G2532] Israel, today [G4594] let it be known to [G1097] all [G3956] the [G3588] this people [G2992][G3778]! that [G3754] you [G1473] are Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316] of Israel, and [G2532] I [am [G1473] your servant [G1401][G1473], and [G2532] through [G1223] you [G1473] I have done [G4160] all [these] things [G3778][G3956].
37: Heed [G1873] me [G1473], O Boss '[G2962], heed [G1873] me [G1473]! And [G2532] let know [G1097] the [G3588] this people [G2992][G3778] that [G3754] you [are [G1473] Boss '[G2962] the [G3588] God '[G2316]! and [G2532] you [G1473] turned [G4762] the [G3588] heart [G2588] of the [G3588] this people [G2992][G3778] back [G3694].
38: And [G2532] fell [G4098] fire [G4442] from [G3844] Boss '[G2962] from out of [G1537] the [G3588] raised-place-above (sky) '[G3772], and [G2532] it devoured [G2719] the [G3588] whole burnt-offering [G3646], and [G2532] the [G3588] kindling , and [G2532] the [G3588] water [G5204] the [G3588] in [G1722] the [G3588] sea [G2281], and [G2532] the [G3588] stones [G3037], and [G2532] the [G3588] dirt [G5522] was licked up by the [G3588] fire [G4442].
39: And [G2532] saw [G1492] all [G3956] the [G3588] people [G2992], and [G2532] fell [G4098] upon [G1909] their face [G4383][G1473]. And [G2532] they said [G2036], Truly , Boss '[G2962] is God '[G2316]. Boss '[G2962], he [G1473] is God '[G2316].
40: And [G2532] Elijah said [G2036] to [G4314] the [G3588] people [G2992], Seize [G4815] the [G3588] prophets [G4396] of the [G3588] Baal, let not one [G3367] escape [G4982] of [G1537] them [G1473]! And [G2532] they seized [G4815] them [G1473]. And [G2532] led them down [G2609][G1473] Elijah] unto [G1519] the [G3588] rushing stream [G5493] Kishon, and [G2532] slew [G4969] them [G1473] there [G1563].
41: And [G2532] Elijah said [G2036] the [G3588] to Ahab, go up , and [G2532] eat [G2068], and [G2532] drink [G4095]! for [G3754] [it is the] sound [G5456] of the [G3588] noise [G2279] of the [G3588] rain [G5205].
42: And [G2532] Ahab went up the [G3588] to eat [G2068] and [G2532] to drink [G4095]. And [G2532] Elijah went up unto [G1519] the [G3588] Carmel, and [G2532] bowed [G2955] upon [G1909] the [G3588] land '[G1093], and [G2532] put [G5087] the [G3588] his face [G4383][G1473] between the [G3588] his knees [G1119][G1473].
43: And [G2532] he said [G2036] [to the [G3588] his servant-lad [G3808][G1473], go up , and [G2532] look [G1914] way [G3598] of the [G3588] sea [G2281]! And [G2532] went up and [G2532] looked [G1914] the [G3588] servant-lad [G3808]. And [G2532] he said [G2036], There is [G3756] nothing [G3762]. And [G2532] Elijah said [G2036], Return [G1994] seven times [G2034]!
44: And [G2532] it came to pass [G1096] in [G1722] the [G3588] seventh [time] [G1442], and [G2532] look [G2400], cloud [G3507] a small [G3397] as [G5613] sole [G2487] of a man's [foot came [with] water [G5204] from sea [G2281]. And [G2532] he said [G2036], go up and [G2532] say [G2036] the [G3588] to Ahab! Team up the [G3588] your chariot [G1473], and [G2532] go down [G2597], lest [G3361] should overtake [G2638] you [G1473] the [G3588] rain [G5205]!
45: And [G2532] it happened [G1096] from [G2193] here [G5602] and [G2532] here [G5602], and [G2532] the [G3588] raised-place-above (sky) '[G3772] darkened with [G1722] clouds [G3507] and [G2532] wind/spirit/breathing '[G4151], and [G2532] there became [G1096] rain [G5205] a great [G3173]. And [G2532] Ahab rode horseback , and [G2532] went [G4198] unto [G1519] Jezreel.
46: And [G2532] hand [G5495] of Boss '[G2962] came [G1096] upon [G1909] the [G3588] Elijah, and [G2532] he fastened the [G3588] his loin [G3751][G1473], and [G2532] he ran [G5143] in front of [G1715] Ahab unto [G2193] Jezreel.
